Transfer the topstitching lines. Layer this marked felt with a piece of red felt. 3. Trace the large flower template once for each flower onto cranberry felt. Transfer the topstitching lines. Layer this marked felt with a piece of wine felt. 4. Trace the leaf template once onto basil green felt. Transfer the topstitching lines. Layer this marked felt with a piece of forest green felt. 5. Before cutting out each piece, stitch carefully around the outlines using coordinating thread for the leaves and contrasting thread for the petals.

Place a dab of glue in the center of the curved edge of the leaf into the forest green stem cover. Glue carefully at the point where the leaf and the stem meet. the Calla Lily petal. Attach it to the stamen. Wrap the petal around the stamen, overlapping the curved edges to create a cone shape. Glue it closed. Let the glue dry completely. Glue stem cover inside leaf. Apply glue. Use the photograph of the finished flowers (page 36) as a guide to shape and arrange the petals and leaves to simulate authentic blooms.

Attach the third bud and leaf, then the smaller flower, covering the base and stem with an additional small leaf, and finally the larger flower and the remaining small leaf. Wrap leaf around bud. Make the Stem 1. Fold the stem cover in half lengthwise. Measure and stitch it to create a snug fit for the stem. Trim the seam allowance close to the stitching. 2. Slide the stem cover onto the stem, and glue it closed at the ends. Attach flowers to stem. 4. To attach the large strap leaves, apply a bead of glue along one leaf, starting at the center and extending out at the lower edge.
