They used their Peterborough factory to make cabins for airships and then went on to build more than 400 Avro 504s and received a contract to built over 100 Sopwith Camels, but this was cancelled when the war ended in 1918. Sage even began developing their own aircraft alongside the aircraft designer Eric Cecil Gordon England. They tried to develop the Sage Types I-IV but it was largely a failure and the aircraft manufacturing part of the business closed down in 1918.
