Peer-to-peer (P2P) computing is attracting huge, immense media cognizance, spurred by way of the recognition of dossier sharing structures comparable to Napster, Gnutella, and Morpheus. The friends are self sustaining, or as a few name them, firstclass voters. P2P networks are rising as a brand new dispensed computing paradigm for his or her power to harness the computing strength of the hosts composing the community and make their under-utilized assets on hand to others. even supposing researchers engaged on disbursed computing, multiagent structures, databases and networks were utilizing comparable ideas for a very long time, it is just lately that papers stimulated via the present P2P paradigm have begun showing in top of the range meetings and workshops. study in agent structures specifically seems to be so much correct simply because, on the grounds that their inception, multiagent structures have regularly been regarded as networks of work-mates. The multiagent paradigm can hence be superimposed at the P2P structure, the place brokers include the outline of the duty environments, the decision-support functions, the collective habit, and the interplay protocols of every peer. The emphasis during this context on decentralization, consumer autonomy, ease and velocity of progress that provides P2P its benefits additionally results in major power difficulties. so much popular between those difficulties are coordination, the facility of an agent to make judgements by itself activities within the context of actions of alternative brokers, and scalability, the price of the P2P platforms lies in how good they scale alongside a number of dimensions, together with complexity, heterogeneity of associates, robustness, site visitors redistribution, and so on.

This quantity offers the absolutely revised papers offered on the 3rd overseas Workshop on brokers and Peer-to-Peer Computing, AP2PC 2004, held in manhattan urban on July 19, 2004 within the context of the 3rd foreign Joint convention on independent brokers and Multi-Agent platforms (AAMAS 2004). the quantity is equipped in topical sections on P2P networks and seek functionality, emergent groups and social behaviours, semantic integration, cellular P2P platforms, adaptive structures, agent-based source discovery, in addition to belief and reputation.

Data Management in a Connected World: Essays Dedicated to Hartmut Wedekind on the Occasion of His 70th Birthday

Facts administration platforms play the main the most important position in construction huge program s- tems. given that sleek functions are not any longer unmarried monolithic software program blocks yet hugely versatile and configurable collections of cooperative companies, the information mana- ment layer additionally has to conform to those new requisites.

Many of the DHT based algorithms cannot see much benefit due to caching as data items or keys map to unique nodes. However the characteristics of requests indicate popularity of documents and hence caching and replication mechanisms can significantly impact the performance of the network. In this paper, we design a novel architecture that takes advantage of the efficiency of Distributed Hash Tables while providing flexibility that can make good use of caching and replication mechanisms. Our architecture also introduces subsystems or overlays within the network, which can make use of other key look up algorithms without disrupting the working or performance of the rest of the network.

We introduce a new distributed data structure, the Distributed-Hash Queue, which enables communication between NetworkAddress Translated (NATed) peers in a P2P network. DHQs are an extension of distributed hash tables (DHTs) which allow for push and pop operators vs.
